| Peter Forsberg returns to Colorado
Forsberg split the 2006-07 regular season between Philadelphia and Nashville, recording 13 goals and 42 assists in 57 games. The five-time All-Star has not appeared in more than 60 contests since 2002-03 due to various ailments. After winning the Calder Trophy (top rookie) in his lone season in Quebec in 1994-95, Forsberg followed the franchise to Denver, where he helped the Avalanche to a pair of Stanley Cup titles in nine seasons. Leafs opt to revisit the past, plus Crosby's absence
As fired Toronto Maple Leafs general manager John Ferguson Jr. finishes his last meal -- our personal favorite in Toronto is the sea bass at Il Posto Nuovo -- it is time to turn our eyes to his interim replacement, Cliff Fletcher, who formally was named Tuesday to clean up the elephant turds around the great Maple Leaf circus. A wise choice? Well, there is a maxim, perhaps introduced by the great American writer A.J. Liebling, that when it is late at night and you've have a few too many drinks, you should suppress any instinct to phone up an old girlfriend or boyfriend. The point is, you shouldn't want to relive your past, a notion that translates to the sports world. Sure, you can go home again if you want to -- Joe Gibbs in Washington and Marv Levy in Buffalo didn't exactly get to the Super Bowl in their sequels -- but maybe just for a visit.

I notice that you do not state where you live. I am not going to waste any more of my time with this now, as contrary to what you believe, I am grown up, and sensible and will rise above your comments and put it down to the fact that you are not a very nice little man and are very narrow minded! For the record, I may live in Erith, but that does not mean that I mix with all of the people here or go out around this area. .
USC freshman puts on show for UW faithful
Moments before tipoff Thursday night at Hec Edmundson Pavilion, the Dawg Pack unleashed a predictable "Hold the Mayo" chant. If only it were that easy. Ovinton J'Anthony Mayo, better known as USC freshman phenom O.J. Mayo, spent the next two hours befuddling a Huskies men's basketball team desperately seeking a breath of life in this rugged Pac-10 season. Mayo, the prize of last year's national prep recruits, poured in 29 points against Washington, 20 in the first half alone, as the Trojans rolled to a 73-59 win. The 6-foot-5 guard dropped in 3-pointers, slammed home a breakaway dunk, went behind his back in traffic for a lay-in and, oh yeah, played pretty good defense in his spare time. For the Huskies, it was the latest onslaught endured from an opposing star, following a 33-point night from Cal's Ryan Anderson, a 31-point effort from Stanford's Brook Lopez and a 26-point showing by Arizona freshman Jerryd Bayless.
Kosher restaurant to reopen after blaze
A popular kosher restaurant in Golders Green will reopen this week, almost four months after it was gutted by fire. Solly's, in Golders Green Road, was severely damaged in the blaze on September 24, last year. It led some fans of the restaurant, which has been a favourite of residents for almost 20 years, to brand it "truly a tragic day for food lovers". A Facebook group, set up to "mourn the loss of Solly's", has almost 1,000 members, who have posted their memories and comments about the restaurant, along with any updates or theories as to what caused the fire. Manager of Solly's, Menashe Gavish said he expected the takeaway area to open tonight (January 15), and the rest of the ground floor to be opening tomorrow. "It has taken a lot of cleaning but it is now first class and will look tip-top with great food," he said.
Former Naperville lawyer Glink dies
Marvin Glink made his mark on every level of municipal law. Whether it was in Naperville, as his firm represented the municipality during the 1960s to '70s timeframe, or through his activities in the International Municipal Lawyers Association, Glink approached life by being all-giving to every person. "He did give back to others," said Glink's wife, Peg. "In Naperville, he started as a charter member of the Rotary-Sunrise Club and was very active in that. Then when we moved to Arizona he became active here. He has just been involved in one project after another in his life, in all types of charitable organizations." Glink, a former Naperville resident, died Feb. 7 in Rio Verde, Ariz., at age 79. Glink, who received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois and his law degree from Chicago Kent College of Law, was an original partner in what is now known as the Ancel, Glink, Diamond, Bush, DiCanni and Krafthefer firm.
