| Hardware Report: Shipments of LCD TVs Surpass CRT TVs
DisplaySearch released a report this week that shows for the first time ever LCD TV shipments outpacing CRT TVs worldwide in Q4 2007. According to the report, global TV shipments grew 21% quarter to quarter and 5% year to year. The total number of TVs shipped was nearly 200 million units worldwide. 2007 was the first year where TV revenues exceeded $100 billion with Q4 2007 revenues alone counting for $32.9 billion of that number. DisplaySearch says that LCD unit share grew worldwide, but the strongest growth in LCD unit share was seen in Europe. Developing nations showed the greatest increase in LCD unit share with Latin America, Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa rising a combined 106% year over year. CRT TV shipments fell from 77% of global TV shipments in Q1 2006 to 46% of global shipments in Q4 2007.
Should airport security be allowed to search and seize our digital ...
The democrats were right for going on vacation instead of voting to renew our right to ease drop on others. So what if we have another 9-11? No one should worry that anyone is listening when they talk onn their cell phone. What are a few thousand American lives when we are talking about cell phone security? I WANT MY RIGHT TO PRIVACY!!!! But airport searches? People like Andrea might not want their laptops searched. What are a few thousand American lives compared to Andrea getting through the sirport in a expedient manner. Screw the public. Andrea has appointments. America needs to learn that now that the Democrats are in charge, no one will want to hurt us anymore. We will be loved by the world just like they loved us during the 1990s. I understand that every other country in the world has security in their airports which is just as stringent as ours and many have security that is a lot worse, but we are Americans!! We are better than everyone else and I'll be damned if I am going to stand by and let those mean old Republicans make us afraid.

EMS: Courage and Compassion in Action: U.S. Health Care: An Oxymoron?
This time he tackles the U.S. health care system by presenting real-life examples of how the system is corrupt and the different ways it can turn a proverbial blind eye from its people. Although Moore spends a lot of time exploring health care in smaller European countries without actually comparing how they work or their overall statistics in relation to the U.S., I was deeply affected by "Sicko" and its description of the disastrous state of the outrageously expensive but poorly managed health-care system in the United States. The documentary walks viewers through several parts (as listed below), each highlighting separate health care issues in the U.S. and how the system is poorly structured and implemented: ● Many Americans are potentially forced to reduce their overall quality of life because they are not adequately covered by health insurance.
New blow for Wendy Alexander as key aide quits
While we cannot comment on any individual case which may or may not be under investigation, we have no reason to believe that any member has been provided with erroneous advice from officials." Dr Dyer issued a statement yesterday insisting he had no option but to refer Ms Alexander's case to the procurator- fiscal once he believed the rules had been broken. He said: "I am not a final arbiter of what should be counted as a registrable interest - that is, in the end, a matter for the parliament and in some cases the courts." A former deputy leader of the SNP also waded into the row by claiming Dr Dyer owed Ms Alexander an apology. Jim Sillars said: "If I had been in Wendy Alexander's shoes this weekend, I would have sought judicial review of the administrative process and actions taken by the office, and person, of the Standards Commissioner in relation to this decision to make a referral to the procurator-fiscal." .

Sure, that was turbulent enough, but I'm thinking about the "Super Outbreak" of tornadoes that took place across the eastern U.S. from the afternoon of April 3rd into the early morning hours of April 4th. Those twisters were spawned from a deepening area of low pressure that moved from the Rocky Mountains into the Upper Midwest. CLICK HERE for official archived weather maps from Wednesday, April 3, 1974...select day 4 from the drop down list on the upper right. That weathermaker was part and parcel of the La Nina pattern the nation was locked into at the time. Interestingly, the winter leading up to that disastrous event was mainly warm and mainly wet (sound familiar?). Bowling Green saw no measurable snowfall in the winter of '73-'74 until February 8th, when 1" fell. It's worth noting that the 1" or less of snow in our area last week turned out to be the first measurable snowfall of the season for many.
